Busy, busy, busy...few more updates. I'm goin' with the 'thumbs up' thing, because I couldn't fit Dinobot on the plaque/stand any other way. The wooden base is freakin' smaller than Rattrap for cryin' out loud...also, at this point, I'm ignorin' 60% of the detail and gettin' the whole thing the right shape before I worry about minor carvins' (which get smushed anyway while I work)...you'll notice his head has been smushed many times. Aiee yai yai...

Whoaa! what a job man. I think it is coming out real neat. You're definitely gifted for this, I've never met anybody with this kind of abilities. You are now given the title of "master sculptor". Great pose, I'm getting so excited just to think how this will look like when it is done. Keep it up!

If I attend the BotCon, and you're coming, I won't even bother entering any of my fanart to the art contest because your sculptures will blow everything away! XD I was thinking about entering this time, too, since I hadn't at '01 or OTFCC '03. Darn it. :lol:

Thanks to all threes of you! Very support...ish. And it helps, believe you me. :P I don't have a pic this time, since I'm just about done it and I don't wanna spoil the surprise.

But I fixed that big 'uh-oh' I had a while back. Um...I dunno what I'm gonna do for the scene. Right now, Rattrap stands a nice 9'' tall. And I couldn't even get 'im to stand up rightly, so I don't think I can make the 13'' Dinobot stand up, either. So instead, I made RT sculpture kneelin'. I'm thinkin' I have to do Dinobot's final scene....if I've got enough polymer clay. I mean, sheesh, I bought 8lbs of it to start with and I've used about 3.5 of it! Bleh...

Once it's baked, I'll put up pics, and then again when it's all painted. Might take a few more days. Thanks for your nice comments! I shine with glee! :D

P.S. Umm...can't go to BotCon, Optimal. It's far, far, far away from here and I'm almost very certainly broke. And even if I did--your fanart would still kick everyone else's in the skidplate! Woooo!

Hi! great effort, I hope you're doing fine Yachi, I have no more doubts about this thread..... It's freaking awesome! I mean those images you posted sometime earlier where just fantastic, the pose and the details were excellent.
Hooray for the new sculpted Beast Wars era! I got one question though. What kind of paint do you use for your works?
Well I have to continue studying for my french exam due tomorrow, but I'll be back to check your new pics and stuff, trust me.

Scratch that. It's not gonna be finished as soon as I thought. XD It keeps meltin' that stupid...melty piece of...stuff. Anyway, since the "final" pics won't be up for a while, here's a few crummy shots of what it looks like now. It needs a....LOT...of work. I have confidence *raises a confidence flag...whatever that is*

Thanks again, Unver (can I call you that for short?). I'd have probably given up on this thing if all of you hadn't encouraged me so much. Also, I use acryllics for my paint. I tried usin' oils once...looked nice, took too long to dry.

I know RT's legs are disproportionate to his body...but, eh...I already baked 'em. So I can't sculpt them anymore. He looks a little chunky. And that arm is hideous. Otherwise...I'm quite happy. Can ya guess what scene I'm aimin' for now? Heh...:D

I think you're going th right direction. I also have to remember that our best critic is ourselves. Don't you think so? Then if I happen to be right that might be the reason why you don't like how he's getting that much. I have to add that I appreciate the effort that you poured into this little guy. You know.. It's not that easy to make a character that resembles an actual model. I've tried making some drawings of the cartoon characters and I find them awful. Believe me when you're finished you will have acquired so much experience that if you decide to do another one in the future you´ll finish it sooner. It's all a matter of practice!
Also may I suggest that if you dislike his legs looking disproportionate to the body you could try using some plastic plants in the base. This way he gets a little cover and withdraw the attention of that area. I'm not an expert in sculping matters but I think it might work good.

As to the original place this thread came from, I have only one word "Piiiiiilot!!!" I can just picture Ben Browder tearing through Moya's corridors heading towards this. Great job. Huge amount of talent and endless potential. I'd seriously consider harassing Hasbro/Takara in a similar fashion that I am for any form of design position within the company. Tell you what. You get a position there and I'll tag along and if I get a position there, I'll get you in as well. :D

Excellent work and I look forward to seeing "That vile rodent" when you have finished with him. Keep it up. :wink:

Jagna: LoL The times on every board are so different I can never tell when someone posted in Eastern time. I might have been on-line when you were, but didn't have time to post. I did jump on-line and read yours Saturday morning, so you probably saw me. Yeah...Pilot. So incredibly detailed I couldn't resist sculptin' him...yep. Anyway, I gotta be brief. 1,963,355 things to do, and so little little time....sheesh! But everyone's been so supportive and nice about this sculpture...I've got more to do, too, so yay. Here's the 99.9% finished version of the Rattrap figure...

It needs the rest of the paint, paint detail, textures and gloss, and the right arm broke off and is hangin' on by a wire...literally. So it needs gluing. That's it, though. I've drawn this conclusion: Dinobot will be hard. I don't have enough clay to sculpt him, either. If I make another figurine, it'll have to be a smallerish character...oi, back tot he drawin' board. :S[/img]
