While she unwrapped the bandage that covered the holes in his hand, he failed to flinch as well. By now, he, too, had seen much worse wounds on a bot's body; most recently Whitegrazer's. And Optimus had been through much greater pain himself. His hand was practically torn in half where the longer spike of her sai had stabbed through the center of his palm, and Icebreaker's grapple had accidentally pulled it further down toward between his middle and ring fingers. The other two spikes had punctured and sliced just near his thumb and the other side of his palm. Oddly enough, Nemesis' touch was surprisingly gentle. And what surprised Optimus even more was what she was about to say.
Primal studied her very closely as she spoke, uninterrupting her. Was it just the claustrophia talking? Was she just delaying him from his departure because having a Maximal there to listen or bicker with was better than having no one there at all?"I was not always this way," "I started out like everyone else, but they changed all that."
The leader nodded at Nemesis, agreeing with the Predacon despite catching a faint smile that crossed her lips as she examined his impaled hand. He wanted to go back to her previous comment and ask her to elaborate on it. As the female hawk released his dysfuntional hand, he pulled it back to his waist and began rewrapping it with the bandage, although the doused cloth would prove worthless by now but he had no where else to put it, intending on leaving nothing behind when he would step out of her cell."That Predacon is strong. She'll survive,"
Sighing at her observation, Optimus thought, So much for a private discussion. Admittedly, having a private conversation outside of the base would arouse curious eyes and ears, but at that point in time, Arachnitron was far too hesitant to enter the Axalon, so Primal had respected her feelings and remained outside with her. A lot of good that did him and her."There is no reason to attempt to hide the truth from me, Optimus. I was watching you and the spider talk for a while before making my presence known. I'm well aware of her dual personality and how the two are at war with each other."
When Nemesis paused, he was about to speak until she held out her arm and rolled her wrist over, revealing a number that was engraved on her armor. The number, 1047, had carried through her reformatting? As if to tell her that she would never be able to forget. Ever. Primal's cold expression suddenly changed when he read the digits on her arm, and a mixture of pity, guilt, concern and understanding filled his red optics when they met Nemesis' again. Primus, now what? He couldn't help but feel just as bad for her as he did Arachnitron. "I see," he said softly, comprehending what Nemesis had meant when she said she and Arachnitron were the same. "I'm sorry, Nemesis." The leader's words, though honest and warm, probably meant nothing to her, and she probably didn't want his pity anyway, but he still felt the need to express his grief toward what she must have had gone through as an experiment. "How long ago did this take place?" Optimus asked as care and curiosity replaced his optic sensors. How long had these experimentations been going on? He didn't know if she was willing to speak anymore about it, but maybe she had been waiting too long to finally relieve her stress and nightmares by simply having someone to listen to her. Maybe Nemesis had never spoken of it to another soul, he didn't know, but he was certain that it was a very touchy subject, and that she was entrusting him with this knowledge of her past.
